Tiritiri Team Visits Sheep World

Today, the Tiritiri team visited Sheep World in Warkworth.

We went for a ride on a bus. Anna says "the bus was fun."
"When we got there, we had morning tea and a play on the playground," says Max.

We went to the show. "We saw sheep and dogs. The dog is running sheep down the hill to see us," said Rosalie and Kimiora-Dior.

Adreus and Mrs A went up the front. "They are making the sheep go through the gate." said Madison.

"Then John was shearing the sheep," said Caitlin. Some children got to have a turn too.

William says, "The children were feeding the lambs with milk in a bottle."
Here is Holly having a turn.

After the show we went to see some pet animals around the farm park.
"We saw pigs," said Zoe,
"We saw ducks," said Nathan,
"We saw sheep," said Kimiora-Dior,
"We saw rabbits," said Owen,
"We saw guinea pigs and miniature ponies," said Anna,
"We saw possums," said Ella-Mae

"We saw a deer," said Anya.

Room 1 had a great day. "We love Sheep World!" yelled room 1.

You know we have had a great time when this happens on the ride home!   :-)

Character Parade

Today we have the Book Character parade. We have come to school dressed up as characters from books. There was a parade and we got to see the costumes of the whole school.
Here is room 1 in costume.

Book Week

Room 1 is reading the Cat in the Hat book this week.

Owen says "We have read the story everyday."

Ella-Mae said "We made a cat in the hat with paper and crayon".
Here are Holly and Max with the Cat in the Hat pictures they made.

On Thursday we coloured the cat's hat in a pattern of red and white. Then we put stickers in the circles. Using stickers helps to make our fingers strong.
Here are Caitlin and Zoe with their hats.

Play dough Challenge.

Today the Penguins reading group were challenged to see if they could make a letter they knew out of play dough.

Todd made a letter 't'.

Anna made her whole name.

The penguins are learning to identify letter names and sounds.

Market Day

This week, room 1 has been making monster cookies. First we mixed the ingredients. Then we put them in the oven.
The next day we iced them and added chocolate drops and writing icing to make monster faces.
We sold the cookies on our market table.

We also sold our Christmas decorations. We made stars out of ice-block sticks. We had to paint them. Then we decorated them with beads, glitter and sequins. We added ribbon the make them hang.

The money we raised will help Maddy in room 9 to get a special operation. We will also spend some on our playground.

Happy Sticks

We have been making our arm and finger muscles strong. We have been using the happy sticks. We try to hold the happy sticks in our fingers, not our hands, to make our fingers strong.

This is Madison holding the happy sticks in her fingers.
This is Rosalie clapping the happy sticks together.
This is Paige tapping colours together. We also call it punching colours.
Room 1 loves the happy sticks, especially when we tap them down and hammer them. We do our happy sticks skills to music.
